Architect of timelines. Storyteller of the strange...

ABOUT ISHAAN MADDOX
Ishaan Maddox writes fiction where time cracks, memory blurs, and nothing is ever as it seems.
I was raised in a house filled with rhythm and revolution — where books on Marcus Garvey, Martin Luther King Jr., Malcolm X, and Huey Newton sat alongside vinyl records spinning Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, and Marvin Gaye. By the time I found hip-hop — 2Pac, Naughty by Nature, N.W.A, MC Hammer, Master P, Rakim— and the velvet weight of 90s R&B, my worldview had already started to shift. Those voices didn’t just entertain me — they formed me.
That legacy — of struggle, sound, silence, and soul — became the bedrock of my introspection. My stories are born there: in the tension between memory and myth, music and meaning, silence and scream.
With a storyteller’s instinct and a cryptographer’s mind, I write speculative fiction that blends the surreal with the familiar — boys tumbling through jazz-era time portals, demons haunting bloodlines, sisters unraveling ancestral secrets with matches in hand. My characters rarely find safe harbor. They wander fractured histories, spiritual awakenings, political echoes, and the questions no one dares ask aloud.
Raised on folklore, late-night mysteries, and a refusal to accept the world as given, I write stories that don't just entertain — they unsettle, linger, and provoke.
When I’m not plotting impossible timelines or conjuring eerie atmospheres, I’m wandering bookstores, sketching in black notebooks, or testing how far a story can bend before it breaks.
You don’t just read an Ishaan Maddox story. You step into it.
